In this position, you'll be able to have a positive impact on countless lives, all while working in a fun and relaxed environment with an awesome team made up almost entirely of other Veterans.
About Fort Kennedy
Fort Kennedy is a Day Center for homeless and low-income Veterans living in the Portland area. Our mission is to enable all Veterans to move forward in their lives after military service. We strive to connect Veterans with transitional housing and shelters for homeless Service Men and Women. We work to ensure all Veterans receive support through employment, housing, and help with well-deserved benefits. We work with many partner agencies in the community to provide a much-needed hand-up, not a hand-out for our homeless Veterans.
Responsibilities Include:
Conduct initial intakes on all new clients, both Housed and Unhoused;
Assess clients’ Veteran status and time in service to determine eligibility for Veteran benefits;
Review and assist established clients with new service requests;
Maintain client files with notes detailing all interactions and updates to the Veterans’ cases;
Perform follow-up calls to clients and case managers from outside organizations, as appropriate;
Provide client updates and issues to all Fort Kennedy staff at daily end-of-day meetings;
Comply with all Fort Kennedy policies and procedures, ensuring all documents and requests are forwarded to the correct staff member for tracking and documentation; and,
General administrative duties as assigned.
Desired Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills;
Knowledge of S-3 Operations; and,
Genuine desire to help people.
